Jack Pine and The Fire
Rich In Time 3:530:00/3:53
Nominated for a 2018 Canadian Folk Music Award, this is traditional string-band instrumentation, played heavy handed with power and passion. The 9 new songs maintain the frantic energy that Jack Pine and The Fire is known for while sinking deeper into steady new grooves. This is not your grandmother’s folk band.
Jack Pine and The Fire’s 2nd Full length album, Left To Our Own Devices, was written at an island cabin built by Grandpappy Jack in remote Northern Ontario.
The isolation inherent to this wild and unique site inspired, Jack Pine [aka Singer-Songwriter-Producer, Gareth Auden-Hole] to write about loneliness, love, and longing. The contrast to Jack’s homelife in Capital City Ottawa also led him to appreciate a simpler approach to life, while celebrating a natural world that popular society so often neglects. Left To Our Own Devices is about relationships… To ourselves, to each other, and to the earth.
Jack Pine and the Fire is Gareth Auden-Hole [Jack Pine – Mandolin, Guitar, Voice], Martin Newman [Upright Bass], Mike Essoudry [ Drums], Stuart Rutherford [Dobro, Fiddle], Anders Drerup [Guitar, Pedal Steel]. Guest Musicians include Pat McLaughlin [Guitar, Tenor Guitar], Kelly Prescott [Vocals], Al Wood [Harmonica], and Chris MacLean [Vocals].
Left To Our Own Devices was written, produced Gareth Auden-Hole [aka Jack Pine], recorded in his mother’s lakeside log cottage in White Lake, Ontario. It was mixed at Gareth’s weeVOXsound Lab and Mastering to tape by Philip Shaw Bova. Emil Mateja created the original album artwork.
Jack Pine and The Fire's debut release hit the shelves in December 2011 with an official launch in January 2012. This self-titled album contains 9 songs for fearless wanderers, helpless wonderers, and broken hearted lovers.

Jack Pine's first solo release is 'Lone Wolf'. These four songs feature howling, biting lyricism, a thunderstorm, and a mandolin playing very loudly, then very softly. Recorded one day in July at a solar powered, once-was-a-church studio, the production is raw and the performance is alive. credits released September 25, 2015

Jack Pine wrote and released "Moustache is King" on Movember 1st, 2012. It's a song that comes from the heart of a proud gentleman who takes care of himself and the ones he loves almost as well as he does his glorious moustache. All proceeds from the sale of this song contributed towards Jack Pine's Movember Campaign.
I am just an ordinary man I ain't perfect, but I do the best I can I've got a job, a home, and a little band I sip my whisky but I keep a steady hand.
My lower lip has been known to be quite sly On its word, you can never quite rely It bends the truth and its stories never fly
I keep my wallet in my back pocket I keep my love within my heart I keep the ones who've passed on my mind
There's a line where a gentleman must live Where he takes only as much as he can give And when he looks across the wondrous land How far he'll see depends how tall the man can stand
look in my eyes you'll find a warm hard stare look in my heart and you'll see a bright light glare look in my soul and you'll find an old man there
I keep my wallet in my back pocket I keep my love within my heart I keep the ones who've passed on my mind And I keep my pride on my upper lip
Released Movember 1, 2012
